OCCP challenges unauthorized direct marketing practices

Due to numerous complaints from consumers, on the 17th of November, the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection announced the initiation of proceedings against Netia S.A, in connection with suspected infringements of the collective consumer interests.. According to the statement of the President of the OCCP, the challenged actions consisted of making telephone calls to consumers for direct marketing purposes, despite the lack of prior consent of the interested parties which is required by the provisions of the Polish telecommunications law.

The proceedings may result in imposition of fines of up to 10% of the company's turnover.
