Ministry of Health is working on changes in distribution and advertising alcoholic beverages

The Chancellery of the Prime Minister published draft legislation guidelines concerning an amendment to the Act on Upbringing in Sobriety and Counteracting Alcoholism and to the Act on Food and Nutrition Safety.

According to the guidelines, the Ministry of Health is planning to forbid placing on market alcohol in the form of powder, crystal, gel or paste. Moreover, the guidelines include extension of beer advertising prohibition by 3 hours (from 11 p.m. till 6 a.m.; currently advertising of beer is allowed after 8 p.m.).

The Minister of Health is also planning to introduce a general ban consumption of alcohol in public places with the exception of places designated for drinking alcoholic beverages. Currently the ban covers only cases of alcohol consumption listed in the Act on Upbringing in Sobriety and Counteracting Alcoholism.
